Transfer by coach to Lantau Island - the largest outlying island in Hong Kong, and twice the size of Hong Kong Island with a mere fraction of its population. Much of the island is designated as country parks and resorts. Arriving at the main township of Tung Chung, we take another coach (with a special closed road permit) and continue to Cheung Sha Beach- a popular summer beach area. From there proceed to Tai O Fishing Village, where you will be able to have an insight of the people living in this traditional fishing community as their fore bearers over a century ago. Your visit will include a 30-minute walking tour of "Hong Kong's Little Venice." Where you will be able to see colorful fishing boats, houses on stilts, canals and racks filled with drying seafood. Afterwards transfer to Po Lin Monastery for a vegetarian lunch at the Monastery Restaurant. Po Lin Monastery is a renowned Buddhist retreat in Lantau's western hills and one of Lantau's most popular attractions. Tour the monastery and view the largest seated outdoor bronze Buddha in the world and to explore the Monastery or the imposing Buddha Statue or walk to the nearby inspirational Wisdom Path or Ngong Ping Village - an amazing cultural themed village which has been architecturally designed and landscaped to reflect the cultural and spiritual integrity of the surrounding areas. It boasts several major attractions - Walking with Buddha, Monkey's Tale Theatre and the Ngong Ping Tea House - as well as a diverse array of retail, dining and entertainment experiences. |
